Who are the customers and how will Nut-Free Shop be marketed?
A primary nut allergy affects over 2% of children and 0.5% of adults in the UK. The UK has14.4M children therefore the nut-free market would be 288,000 potential child consumers, not allowing for siblings. The UK has 50M adults therefore nut-free market would be 250,000 potential consumers. Therefore, we have a total target market of well over half a million customers in the UK. The Global allergy-friendly food market is expected to rise at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.1% from 2025 to 2031. Online purchasing is driven by 1) rising consumer awareness 2) increasing allergy prevalence and 3) convenience of e-commerce.
No one-stop-shop marketplace for nut-free products has hitherto existed in the UK, therefore this is a pioneering retail offering which we believe will generate loyal customers who can shop for nut-free products without having to search for ’needles in haystacks’. There is a lack of product clarity for those with a nut allergy and we aim to change that.Having decades of experience in digital marketing and brand growth, we will use our skills and knowledge to promote Nut-Free Shop via social media, email campaigns, PR, partner collaborations, endorsements and word of mouth.
How does order fulfilment work?
Nut Free Shop is an online marketplace which takes customer orders of nut-free products. You will be notified via email when one of your products is sold. Then, you can send the order out to the customer in the same way you would fulfill an order from your own website. We operate a Shopify site, enabling you to log in to your account, create listings for your products, manage orders, upload and update products, and contact customers.
Please price your product to allow for packing and shipping costs to be included in the selling price. You then pack and ship products using a shipper of your own choice, and can upload tracking details for the customer so that they are kept informed of their delivery.
How do the financials work?
In order to create a marketplace that is fair and simple to use, with little barrier to entry, we charge no set up fees to list your products. You can list as many products as you like, but bear in mind that these are retail customers not wholesale, so try to offer packs containing different flavours to provide more variety.
We will charge sellers a service 20% fee on any products sold via the Nut Free Shop. No joining fees, no monthly fees, no contract, just a simple, risk-free commission fee per transaction. This ensures there are no barriers to entry, and small, artisan companies can list products as well as larger players. All fees are subject to VAT. Payments will be made on the last working day of each month.
How should I present my product?
The nut-free shop marketplace aims to provide clarity and transparency for consumers with nut allergies. Therefore, we will present all products on the site with a very clear format:
1. Photos of the product - up to seven photos, styled simply but artistically:
2. Product Description - up to 100 words.
3. Ingredients
4. Nut-free certification - in photo form. It is the Producer’s responsibility to ensure nut-free certification is up-to-date.
Certification provides the clarity that our consumers can’t find on other retail websites, or indeed in store. If at any time the status of one or more of your listed products changes to contain ’traces of nuts’ they must be removed from the site immediately. It is the responsibility of the Producer/Brand Owner to ensure any product advertised on the Nut-Free Shop marketplace is manufactured in a nut-free factory and contains no traces of nuts.
